Important changes to DateCheck
You are receiving this information since you have an agreement with Creditsafe that includes the monitoring API DateCheck. Due to a decision made by the the Swedish Data Protection Authority (“Datainspektionen”), we have to change how the service works. The new version (DateCheck 2.0) will include a reference date in the request.
The reference date parameter is already added to the web service but is currently not mandatory. We recommend that you make necessary adjustment on your side as soon as possible, as from September 11th, you will not be able to use the service without a reference date. The reason for the change is that the Datainspektionen has assessed that the service as it works today does not comply with the credit law (“Kreditupplysningslagen”).
How DateCheck works today
DateCheck is an API where you send a social security number or an organization number and get the date of the latest change within the respective change category. The API enables you to compare the date of your most recent credit decision with the latest date of change. Therefore, with a logic on your side comparing these dates, it’s possible to avoid unnecessary credit reports.
The decision from Datainspektionen
The response can be up to 36 months for consumers and sole traders as well as 60 months for other company types. Datainspektionen have decided that the web service should not return a change date that is older than your last credit check (ie older than your reference date).
How DateCheck 2.0 will work
The new version will require you to include a reference date in the request. The reference date should reflect when your last credit decision was made on the consumer or company. The web service will then check for changes since this date and return a response.
Please note! Just as today, the change date in the response can be up to 36 months for consumers/sole traders and 60 months for companies. This is decided by your reference date.
Changes in request
The only difference in the request is that you need to add a new parameter containing a reference date: REFERENCE_DATE. The formats accepted are: YYYY-MM-DD, YYYYMMDD, and YYMMDD.
The URL address of the web service will be the same as today.
Changes in response
The format and response will be exactly the same as today, with the difference that the REFERENCE_DATE parameter will be included. If the parameter in the request is empty, the response parameter will also be empty, otherwise it will contain the change date.
We have added three new error codes that you need to consider:
21 ("Reference Date Missing")
22 ("Wrong format on reference date")
23 ("Reference date too old")
