Beef in Black Bean Sauce

Chapter 1

The ingredients

400g lean diced beef
1 tbsp cornflour
1 large white onion, cut into thin wedges
1 red pepper, deseeded and sliced
1 green pepper, deseeded and sliced
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 thumb-sized piece ginger, finely chopped
1-2 red chillies, finely chopped
5 tbsp black bean sauce
1 tbsp white wine vinegar

Chapter 1

The method

  1. Toss beef in cornflour.
  2. Fry steak in frylight or oil for 5 mins.
  3. Transfer to another plate.
  4. Fry onion and pepper until soft.
  5. Add chopped garlic, ginger, chillies, cook for a further minute.
  6. Return beef back to the pan.
  7. Add black bean sauce, white wine vinegar, water
  8. Simmer until cooked through.
  9. Serve hot!
